6/11/26 Update for Severe Storms Today

Good afternoon NWS Milwaukee Partners,

Here's an update regarding the severe storm potential for this afternoon and evening.

Bottom Line Up Front

  • Round one of storms is moving northeast across southern Wisconsin. Isolated severe storms are possible into early afternoon in far southeast WI.
  • Then, severe storms expected between 2 and 8 pm.
  • All hazards possible with high-end impacts: Tornadoes, Widespread Damaging Winds, Large Hail. Wind gusts to 80 MPH and an EF2 tornado is possible.
  • The greatest risk for damaging winds and tornadoes are counties along the WI/IL border.
  • High rain rates create a flash flooding risk through this evening.

What has changed?

  • Confidence continues to be high in a significant severe weather threat for this afternoon & evening. Some uncertainty with how far north the threat of severe weather extends. See slide 3 showing the 2 different scenarios.
  • A flood watch is in effect through 11 PM.
