Amendment of the Dane County Water Quality Plan
by Adopting the Revised Policies and Criteria for the Review of
Sewer Service Area Amendments
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission will hold a public hearing convening at 6:00 PM, January 8, 2026, for the purpose of public input on a proposed amendment to the Dane County Water Quality Plan, updating the Policies and Criteria for the Review of Sewer Service Area Amendments. This update will supersede the current Policies and Criteria for the Review of [Major] Sewer Service Area Amendments (adopted April 13, 2017) and Policies and Criteria for the Review of Minor Sewer Service Area Amendments (adopted February 13, 2020). These updates seek to clarify submittal requirements, align with statutory requirements, generally improve the process, and increase alignment with the Agency's vision and mission. The draft Policies and Criteria for the Review of Sewer Service Area Amendments is posted on the Urban Service Areas webpage of the CARPC website.
After the public hearing, the Commission will consider a recommendation to the Wisconsin DNR that the revised policies and criteria be adopted as part of the Dane County Water Quality Plan.
This meeting will be conducted virtually via Zoom and may also have an in-person component (subject to change, refer to final agenda). Via Zoom, you may participate in the meeting from your computer, tablet, or smartphone by using the URL on the meeting agenda, which is typically posted the week before the meeting and can be found on the Meeting Information page of the CARPC website. If you need other accommodation to attend the meeting, please call Matt Kozlowski at (608) 474-6017.
Written comments may be mailed to the CARPC office by December 30, 2025, or may be submitted by e-mail to MatthewKoz@capitalarearpc.org by January 7, 2026.
For information or questions on the proposed amendment, you may contact Senior Environmental Engineer, Nick Bower at nickb@capitalarearpc.org or (608) 474-6019.
