Town of Oregon Encourages Your Participation at the CARPC Public Hearing

Concerned About the Proposed Development Near Netherwood?

The Town of Oregon encourages residents, property owners, and other interested parties to attend the upcoming Town of Oregon public meeting on Tuesday, August 18 at 6:00pm available in-person and via Zoom regarding the proposed Featherwood Trails Urban Service Area Amendment.  The Capital Area Regional Planning Commission (CARPC) public hearing for this on Thursday, August 13, at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom has been cancelled.

Check the website https://www.capitalarearpc.org/meetings/ for rescheduling.

This is an opportunity to express your concerns about stormwater management, flooding, drainage, water quality, watershed impacts, agricultural lands, infrastructure, roads, and neighboring properties.

The proposed amendment affects approximately 81 acres of land currently located in the Town of Oregon, including land bordering the Oregon Rotary Bike Trail, a valued community resource used by bikers, runners, and walkers.

Technical Review and Public Input Are Needed

The Town requested that the Village of Oregon postpone CARPC August 13 public hearing until necessary technical information has been completed, shared, and reviewed.

The Town is requesting additional information to better evaluate potential impacts related to stormwater management, infrastructure, neighboring properties, and community resources.

The Town also requested a public meeting with Village officials, the Veridian developer, and Town residents to discuss the proposal before the public hearing.

Representatives from the Village of Oregon and Veridian will attend the town public meeting on Tuesday, August 18 at 6:00pm and participate in the discussion regarding the proposed development.

The Town believes residents and affected jurisdictions should have the opportunity to review the information and provide input before any decision is made.
